Age Classes
Atom class: under 10 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.
Peewee class: under 12 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.
Bantam class: under 14 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.
Midget class: under 16 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.
Juvenile class: under 18 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.
Junior class: 18 years of age or older on the 1st of January of the year of the competition, provided he or she has not qualified for Senior status.
Master class: you must meet the following..
- on the 1st of January of the year of the competition:
- female 25 years of age or older
- male 30 years of age or older
- does not compete at a national or international regatta as a Junior or Senior competitor in all boats excepts fours and war canoe if under the age of female – 35 years, and male – 40 years in the year of competition.
- has not competed as a member of the National Team in the previous year in the discipline for which they acquired National Team Status.
- CANMAS has separate rules for the age classes in the national masters championships
Proof of Age – All Atom, Peewee, Bantam, Midget, Juvenile and Master Class competitors shall provide proof of birth date to the Division upon registration with the sprint racing discipline of the Association.
