Fall/Winter Description
Mic Mac will be offering paddling fall training program starting Monday September 5th at 4:30pm.Â
We are offering programs for all ages with appropriate on and off water practices with our highly qualified coaches. This is the time of the year where we are able to give more individualized attention to each athlete to improve on stroke technique, fitness and their overall performance as a paddler and athlete.
We offer two options for participants:
For the younger athletes (anyone going into PeeWee next summer or older), or athletes who are involved in winter sports we offer a 3 practice per week schedule, and for the more serious or older paddler we offer a practice schedule which consists of 4 plus practices per week (4-10).Â
Our fall months Sept-Nov focus will be on water practices with a few off water games depending on weather and fun days. We have 2 regattas and one weekend camp scheduled for the fall as well as some other fun paddling adventures. The fall months are the best time to paddle in Dartmouth as the weather is the best and the lake is always calm. The fall is the perfect time for athletes of all ages to improve on their paddling techniques and boat skills.Â
Our goal as a club is to create 3-4 groups based on age and skill level and devote a coach to each group to really give every athlete the best chance at becoming a better paddler. Even though on the water there will be a few different groups, once we are off the water we are all one big group. Over the off season we really try to create a sense of team and family with our off season paddlers. We want all of our kids to have the same pride and sense of ownership for our club that our coaches have.Â
As the weather gets colder we will be doing less on water and more off water activities such as running, basketball, soccer, swimming, canoe polo (in the pool), cross country skiing, & weights (age appropriate). This year we will be keeping the club to club rivalry going all winter with a Saturday Morning Soccer league from Sept-Nov, and a Wednesday & Friday Basketball League to start from Nov-April. Also we will have a Canoe Polo league starting in November and running until March (dates to come).
Every Second Wednesday after practice we will be holding a group team builder session which could be anything from bowling/movie/dinner/rock climbing/etc.
